If i remember correctly, the M is night vision compatible while the ML is not. however, I’ve got an ML3 4moa, i cant even see the dot on the first 4 clicks, and its very faint on the 5th. i believe i could use it with NV, but have not been able to test it. I had aAimpoint Comp ML2 and like you said the first three clicks are virtually impossible to see even in pitch black environment. I put a coworkers PVS14 behind myAimpoint Comp ML2 and the first 4 clicks worked beautifully w/ the NVG’s. On the first click, I can’t see the dot without the night vision. so how bout that c3 then if you were going the 2 route? Tomac

At first, I was disappointed and almost sold it, but this would have been a mistake. The problem is worse indoors, than it is outside. Very much a dot outside. I just got through taking a two day practical rifle course this weekend. With clouds on Saturday, I had the dot at 8 (2 less than max). No flare. Today, bright sunlight and I had to turn it up to 9. Slight flare. I know everyone brags about the sub moa groups. My 14.5″ M4gery with the Aimpoint kept it to 4″ groups at 200 yds. Worked just fine, even with a litttle bit of flare. At closer ranges, the flare didn’t make any difference in speed or accuracy. In conclusion, at least for me, the flare doesn’t affect the practical usefulness of the optic. YMMV. hexe9

M14 Scope Mounts

An AR-10 will also be lighter with comparable parts (heavy barrel, FF rails). AR10′s are also very good with hot loads, they seem to handle it much better than an M14 Scope Mounts, One hot load to the M14 Scope Mounts and say hello to Mr. Bent Op-rod and Hello to Mr Frequent Jams. AR10 is also easy on brass. The Military might not reload, but some of us do so that is another positive. For scope mounting, AR10 is light years ahead because it is already on the Receiver and their is nothing to adjust or break. I think the best M14 Scope Mounts option to mount a scope is the LaRue Tactical SPR-E (or similar) mounted backwards on the Sage top rail. This way you can take off the entire top rail with scope in place to clean the M14 Scope Mounts, and when you put it back, POI shift will be very minimal and not even noticeable. Extraction on the M14 Scope Mounts gets weaker and weaker with the round count, and it does not take a lot of rounds before you have super weak extraction where the shell barely leaves the rile. AR extraction is always positive.

BTW, I had to turn each adjustment knob almost 1 1/2 turns to sight it in. Is that unusual?

Do not take off your battery compartment when the sight is still on….

what distance are you sighting in…making that kind of adjustment to sight in an optic is not unusual.

I thought I did turn it off, but I could easily be wrong about that. I did not know about this issue so I was not paying close attention.

I had planned to sight it in at 100 yards, but I did not get that chance before taking it to a local pumpkin shoot with the WA group this weekend. I quickly discovered that I was not hitting anything with it, and could see bullet impacts high-right, so I set up a target stand at about 15 yards to test it. Sure enough, the POI was about 3-4 inches high and to the right. I’m just guessing about that as I threw the target away immediately after getting a rough sight in at that distance. After that I was getting consistant hits on small pumpkins out to about 75-80 yards. Many o’ punkin got vaporized that day! I plan to do an accurate sight in at the next opportunity.

The reason I was surprised is that EOTechs are supposed to be bore sighted at the factory, and my carry handle sight is dead on at 200 yards with the aperture at mechanical zero.

Thanks again for the help.

There is only one real way to fix a battery optic issue once and for all……buy an ACOG

Actually, I really did want an ACOG. I have some minor vision problems with dot type sights that don’t occur with ACOGs, but after debating the cost versus the benefits I decided that the additional expense was not worth it for me.
